DIVERGENT by Veronica Roth

SUMMARY:

In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue–Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is–she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are–and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

THOUGHTS: My absolute favorite books of 2012! Read it now!

PROMISED by Caragh M. O’Brian

SUMMARY:

After defying the ruthless Enclave, surviving the wasteland, and upending the rigid matriarchy of Sylum, Gaia Stone now faces her biggest challenge ever.  She must lead the people of Sylum back to the Enclave and persuade the Protectorat to grant them refuge from the wasteland.  In Gaia’s absence, the Enclave has grown more cruel, more desperate to experiment on mothers from outside the wall, and now the stakes of cooperating or rebelling have never been higher.  Is Gaia ready, as a leader, to sacrifice what–or whom–she loves most?

THOUGHTS: What a great ending to this series! I really enjoyed this whole trilogy and definitely recommend it.

Review of Eve: Anna Carey

I liked this book and I liked the storyline and was even a little horrified at the thought of our world ending up like that which is always a good marker of a great dystopian novel.
This book was a little slow at the beginning, but once I got into it I loved it!
I recommend!

Amazon Description:

Where do you go when nowhere is safe?
Sixteen years after a deadly virus wiped out most of Earth’s population, the world is a perilous place. Eighteen-year-old Eve has never been beyond the heavily guarded perimeter of her school, where she and two hundred other orphaned girls have been promised a future as the teachers and artists of the New America. But the night before graduation, Eve learns the shocking truth about her school’s real purpose—and the horrifying fate that awaits her.
Fleeing the only home she’s ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Arden, her former rival from school, and Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Separated from men her whole life, Eve has been taught to fear them, but Caleb slowly wins her trust . . . and her heart. He promises to protect her, but when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.
In this epic new series, Anna Carey imagines a future that is both beautiful and terrifying. Readers will revel in Eve’s timeless story of forbidden love and extraordinary adventure.

Legend: Marie Lu

Now this is a fun Dystopian novel. The only bad thing is the world it is set in is really similar to a book I’ve been slowly writing over the last year. I think I missed my chance to get on the dystopian band wagon as the last year it has really hit hard. BUT oh well. I’ll finish my book.
ANYWAYS, this was a really great book! I really, really liked it! I kept seeing it come up in my Amazon suggested reading, but the description seemed so blah until one day I read the reviews and realized that people really liked it. I gave it a try and was so happy that I did. I just wish that it was longer.
I absolutely recommend! Read this book, you won’t be disappointed! (well, for arguments sake you might, but I wasn’t)
