Summary:
Zach, Poppy and Alice have been friends for ever. They love playing with their action figure toys, imagining a magical world of adventure and heroism. But disaster strikes when, without warning, Zach’s father throws out all his toys, declaring he’s too old for them. Zach is furious, confused and embarrassed, deciding that the only way to cope is to stop playing . . . and stop being friends with Poppy and Alice. But one night the girls pay Zach a visit, and tell him about a series of mysterious occurrences. Poppy swears that she is now being haunted by a china doll – who claims that it is made from the ground-up bones of a murdered girl. They must return the doll to where the girl lived, and bury it. Otherwise the three children will be cursed for eternity.
My Thoughts:
I thought this was a great character driven story! It was kind of creepy, yet engaging… It was a great MG read.
I recommend.

Book Review of Letters to Nowhere by Julie Cross

Kindle Edition, 288 pages

Summary:
From the International Bestselling Author of the Tempest Series…Set in the tough world of Elite Gymnastics…I’ve gotten used to the dead parents face. I’ve gotten used to living with my gymnastics coach. I’ve even adjusted to sharing a bathroom with his way-too-hot son. Dealing with boys is not something that’s made it onto my list of experiences as of yet. But here I am, doing it. And something about Jordan–being around him, talking to him, thinking about him–makes me feel like I can finally breathe again. That’s something I haven’t been able to do lately. He knows what it feels like to be me right now. He knows what it’s like to wonder–what now? I think about it constantly. I need answers. I need to know how to get through this. In the gym, if you’re struggling, you train harder, you do drills and conditioning. How do I work hard at moving on? At being on my own? And what happens if I might be…maybe…probably falling for Jordan? I mean we live together now. That can’t happen, can it? But kissing him…well, let’s just say it’s not an easy activity to forget.

My Thoughts:
I thought this was a great read! I had my doubts that a book that centered so much around gymnastics would keep my interest, but it really did and that is mainly because the characters are so engaging. I definitely recommend!
I recommend!

Book Review of If I Stay by Gayle Forman

695205
Hardcover, 201 pages
Published April 2nd 2009 by Dutton Juvenile
Summary:
In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck…A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.
My thoughts:
I really liked this book. I love how quickly she was able to establish the characters so that you actually CARED about what happened so quickly. That’s a pretty big deal in my opinion as it takes a lot of skill as a writer. I definitely recommend!

Book Review of Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

Paperback, 447 pages
Published February 6th 2012 by Egmont Press
Summary:

I have two weeks. You’ll shoot me at the end no matter what I do.That’s what you do to enemy agents. It’s what we do to enemy agents. But I look at all the dark and twisted roads ahead and cooperation is the easy way out. Possibly the only way out for a girl caught red-handed doing dirty work like mine — and I will do anything, anything, to avoid SS-Hauptsturmführer von Linden interrogating me again.

He has said that I can have as much paper as I need. All I have to do is cough up everything I can remember about the British War Effort. And I’m going to. But the story of how I came to be here starts with my friend Maddie. She is the pilot who flew me into France — an Allied Invasion of Two.

We are a sensational team.

My Thoughts:
It took me a bit to fall into the cadence of this book and figure out what the heck was going on. But once I got the rhythm I was just floored! What an amazing and tragic book! I loved it so much! Read this NOW and don’t stop till the end!
